Discovering Suoi Mo Waterfall

Location and Accessibility

Suoi Mo, also known as the Dream Stream, is located in the center part of Phu Quoc Island near Duong Dong lake. It’s a part of the larger Phu Quoc National Park, which covers more than half of the island. The waterfall is accessible via a short trek about 1.5 Km through the dense jungle, starting from the Cua Duong commune.

To get there, you can rent a motorbike or a bicycle from the main town of Duong Dong. The journey takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your mode of transport. Alternatively, you can join a guided tour that includes transportation, making the trip hassle-free.

The Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Suoi Mo is during the rainy season, from May to October. During this period, the waterfall is at its most spectacular, with a powerful flow of water cascading down the rocks. The lush vegetation surrounding the falls is also at its greenest, creating a picturesque scene.

However, visiting during the dry season has its own charm. From November to April, the waterfall is less forceful, but the pools at the base are clearer and more inviting for a refreshing dip. The dry season also offers easier trekking conditions, with less mud and more stable paths.

Si tailored a trek for us as we had our toddler in tow. He took us through a forest to a hidden waterfall where we swam, ate some delicious pepper chicken he’d brought and our child napped in a hammock he put up - the most serene looking nap I’ve ever seen! Si was such a genuine guy; he grew up in forests and spends his entire days outside. His love for the natural world shines through and he told us about various plants etc we came across throughout the day. He was really organised, bringing everything we’d need - even a pop-up changing tent! We stopped on the way back to our hotel to get some fruit from the local market - Si translated and even bought us some delicious cold coconuts to sip on. Later that evening he sent me a link to Google drive with some really well-shot pictures he’d taken of us through the day. It was especially nice as we rarely get pics of the three of us together! Thank you Si - I’d highly recommend his trips to anyone visiting Phu Quoc
