Trekking on Phú Quốc Island offers a unique and rewarding experience, but the best time to go depends on your preferences and tolerance for the weather. The island has two main seasons, each presenting different conditions for exploration:

  • Dry Season (November – April): Trails are less slippery and the weather is pleasant.
  • Wet Season (May – October): The island is lush and green, but trails can be muddy, slippery, and challenging due to rain.

A well-prepared backpack is essential. Pack light but make sure you have the following:

  • 1 Backpack: 12 liters
  • 1 Trekking Pole: 120cm – 135cm height for Adult; 80 cm – 110 cm for children
  • 1 Bottle of water (All our trekking tours use reusable stainless steel water bottles to reduce plastic waste)

YOU need to prepare:

  • 1 pair of closed-toe shoes suitable for trekking
  • Lightweight, Breathable Clothing: Opt for moisture-wicking fabrics to stay cool and comfortable in the tropical climate.
  • Long Pants: These will protect you from insects, thorny bushes, and the sun However, shorts are also an option during the dry season.
  • Swimwear using at the waterfall (During the dry season, the waterfalls are often less active, and you might want to opt out of swimming. Instead, you could take the opportunity to explore the bat caves)
  • Mosquito repellent (if you don’t have, we will prepare)
  • Sunglasses, sun hat, sunscreen
  • Hand fan for summer

Safety and General Tips

Easy to Moderate Trails :

This is generally shorter (2-3 hours round trip) and are suitable for beginners and families.

Moderate to Hard Trails:

This is more challenging hike in the park, leading to the highest point of the island and long distance. It requires a higher level of fitness and is a great option for experienced trekkers.

Safety and conservation rules:

  • Follow the Group: Always stay between the tour leader and the safety assistant. This ensures everyone’s safety and helps us keep the group together.
  • Stay on the Trail: For your safety and to protect the natural environment, please stay on the designated trail. If you need to stop for any reason, let your guide know.
  • Walk in a Single File: When we are in the cave, please walk in a single line. This is a safety measure to help prevent falls and keep everyone moving smoothly.
  • Pace Yourself: We have a diverse group with different fitness levels. To ensure everyone enjoys the tour, we’ll walk at a steady, comfortable pace. Please don’t rush ahead.
  • No Alcohol During the Trek: Alcohol is strictly prohibited during the trek to ensure everyone’s safety and clear-headedness on the trail. We’ll celebrate with a beer together once the tour is finished!
  • Enjoy the Sounds of Nature: To be fully present and aware of your surroundings, please do not use headphones or music during the trek.
  • Help Protect Our Waterways: To preserve the water quality of the waterfall and river, please do not use chemical soaps or shampoos.
  • Respect Nature: Do not litter, and avoid disturbing wildlife.
  • Stay Hydrated: The tropical climate is humid and can be dehydrating. Drink water frequently, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
